Ok so Massa’s supporter got a big ego boost today. A new Poll from Majority Watch (click on the district) puts Massa ahead by 12 points! 52-40, now Im optimistic about the race but Damn, I never expected that and I really don’t know if its accurate. Admitedly I see it as an extremely close race, but they did break the district into two groups and in this area they have Kuhl with a 1 point lead. One Point, thats abut as close as it gets, the Rochester area on the other hand they put Massa with 26 point advantage, Holy Crap batman.

Now it wasn’t too long ago that Kuhl didn’t even want to admit there was a challenger, I’d love to pull up a quote but I can’t find one yet, while today it’s “I’m cautiously optimistic.”

As for stumping first he pulled out the big gun, oh oh im sorry Im supposed to mention guns and Kuhl in the same sentance, Dick Cheney, oh man another one. Lets try this again, Kuhl brought in Cheney a few weeks back to help him raise some cash, now He’s bringing in U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez. Kuhls claim is that this is just standard fair, he’s doing fine.

Kuhl said the Gutierrez appearance is part of a continuing pattern of bringing influential federal officials to the district and not a sign that his campaign is in trouble.

That came from the same article as “im cautiously optimistic.” I still feel that this is going to be a close race, the fond memories of Amo Houghton still dance in the minds of many. Kuhl does have the big advantage of name recognition, theres still all too many people in the area who don’t know Massa, although maybe the Debates worked and people have heard, maybe the poll is right , maybe now that almost all who want to pay attention have heard both sides they really are seeing the light. just a few more weeks untill we know for sure.
